Christmas Trees

Nothing beats a truly fresh cut Christmas tree! As a little girl, I always loved wandering through the trees in search of that perfect one, sipping hot cocoa and watching my dad cut it down. We'd haul it home and set it up and the smell of Christmas would filter through the entire house!

In this age of industrialism, most families either buy already cut trees or choose fake trees which are toxic to the environment and, frankly, just isn't the same. At the farm we are in the planning phase of establishing a tree farm and will offer the most popular varieties of trees! Stay Tuned!

Vermiculture and Vermicomposting

Vermiculture is the culture of earthworms. Vermicomposting is the process by which worms are used to convert organic materials (usually wastes) into a humus-like material known as vermicompost. Vermicompost provides many benefits to agricultural soil, including increased ability to retain moisture, better nutrient-holding capacity, better soil structure, and higher levels of microbial activity.
Vermicompost may be superior to conventional aerobic compost including higher in nitrates, which is the more plant-available form of nitrogen, is believed to exceeds conventional compost with respect to levels of beneficial microbial activity, and vermicompost stimulates further plant growth even when the plants are already receiving optimal nutrition. There also seems to be strong evidence that worm castings sometimes repel hard-bodied pests.

We will be offering vermicompost for sale as well as worms for fishing and/or pet feed.

Cherry Valley Apiary

Agriculture depends greatly on the honeybee for pollination. Honeybees account for 80% of all insect pollination. Without such pollination, we would see a significant decrease in the yield of fruits and vegetables. Eating local honey can fend off allergies. Honeybees are not aggressive by nature, and will not sting unless protecting their hive from an intruder or are unduly provoked.

All of our heirloom seeds are open-pollinators that rely on insects, birds, wind and other natural mechanisms to pollinate and produce. To help our crops grow, we will be establishing a new apiary on the farm! Besides making our farm more sustainable and enabling us to adhere to organic farming practices, honey bees will provide us with an abundance of honey! Honey is a natural energy booster! It also builds immunity in the body and is a natural remedy for many ailments! What many people don't know is that honey possesses carcinogen-preventing and anti-tumor properties!
